Control Your Thoughts, Control Your Destiny! My Thoughts Control Me

Matt 5:8
Blessed are the pure in heart, for they will see God.

Matthew 5 is telling us that:

  • God’s desire for you is to be blessed, happy and favored.
  • The pathway to blessing, happiness and favor is a pure heart.

The Bible tells us the person with a “pure heart” is a women who thinks positive. This text is saying you will be happy and blessed if you think positive and you will see God do great things for you.

In Matthew 5:8:

  • The word “pure” means clean, positive or godly.
  • The word “heart” refers to your thoughts and feelings.

We can paraphrase this verse, “I am happy when my thoughts are positive. God will do great things for me”.

The person with a pure heart is always a positive thinker.  A positive thinker only allows affirming, cheering and confident thoughts to control her mind. She understands that her thoughts are powerful and must carry her to her destiny.

Your thoughts go from your mind to your heart and become your feelings.
Your feelings negative or positive will become your actions.

Thoughts and Feelings Control Your Destiny.

A number of years ago, I was praying/complaining to God and repeating lies the devil had told me for years. “God you don’t care about me, you haven’t given me what I asked for and everyone is doing great and successful things… but me.” As my, “poor me” prayers continued, The Holy Spirit lovingly showed up and spoke to my spirit.  He said to me, “YOUR LIFE IS CONTROLLED BY YOUR THINKING!”

Stop the evil destructive thoughts in your mind. Stop the thoughts of bitterness, envy, disappointment, jealousy, sadness, inferiority and self- hatred. Stop these thoughts that come from the enemy, reminding you of hurtful remarks, adverse circumstances and cruel incidents. The devil wants to abuse you, beat you up, bring you down, tear you apart and keep you thinking bad about yourself. Stop the wrong thinking.

Control your thoughts from thinking negative to thinking positive; you will change your life from lack and unhappiness to success, prosperity and blessing. You control your destiny by the thoughts you think.

Proverb 4:23 says, Be careful what you think, because your thoughts run your life.

Nothing Will Change, Until You Decide To Change Your Negative Thinking.

In order to live your up to your full potential, you have to empty your mind of negative thoughts and replace them with positive thinking.

God tells us in scripture that your thoughts control your life. Your circumstances, your husband, your past, even the devil does not control your life.  Your life will follow your thoughts.

Matthew 5 is reminding us that your life is ruled by your thoughts and feelings. If you have positive thoughts, it will lead to a blessed and successful life. And you will see God do amazing things for you.

Matthew 5:8: I am blessed because I am pure [positive] in heart [thinker]. I will see God do great things for me.

Be a Women of Declaration:
I am blessed because I am pure in heart. I am a positive thinker. I will live a victorious, overcoming and blessed life. I am a godly woman who has a powerful God making a pathway of success for me. I understand my thoughts and feelings control my future. I can control my thoughts.  I am happy and thankful in every circumstance.

Be a Women of Positive Prayer:

  1. Start your prayer with, “I believe God will do this …”
  2. Always intertwine a scripture to your prayer, “I declare the Word of God…”
  3. Give a detailed end goal. That way you and God will know when you have crossed the finished line.
  4. End with thanking God for the answer before you have it.

Take a lot of time and make a new prayer list adding these 4 ingredients.

Love you,
Tami McKinney

I Am Full Of Mercy

Matthew 5:7
God blesses those who are merciful, for they will be shown mercy.

I have always heard about God’s mercy but I am not sure I ever understood it. Until recently, God showed me how merciful He is.

A number of years ago, I got deeply hurt by a close friend and I ALLOWED IT to make me bitter for over two years. The pain and bitterness caused me to become negative.  Graciously my husband challenge me to forgive and do an act of kindness for them. I did forgive that friend and I made it right with her.

But I didn’t expect what would happen next to me. Guilt and commendation rushed in to replace the bitterness. I was now fighting thoughts of “How could you be bitter, you are a pastor?”, “You have hurt your kids and church by your bitterness”!

As I battled with this struggle of guilt, failure, and condemnation; God spoke to me that His MERCY had always covered me, my children and the church. I was now following Matthew 5:7, I had shown mercy and forgiveness and God was going to show me His mercy.

God’s mercy would change my life and bring me new freedom, joy and peace.

From that God thought in Matthew 5:7… “God would show me mercy”.  A wonderful feeling flooded over my mind… and I knew it was a realization of His mercy.   This simply revelation of God’s mercy healed me instantly, the guilt and comdemnation was gone. I was free.

Lam 3:23 says, “God’s mercy is new every morning.”

I didn’t deserve it! But I experienced God’s MERCY.

As God talked with me, He treated me with great compassion, I felt His steadfast and unfailing love for me, my family and church family. I was drenched in His mercy, kindness, pity, and His willingness to help me overcome my hurts and bitterness. God reminded me, that He was not angry with me, He was not punishing me nor was He condemning me or giving me what I deserved but God was giving me MERCY.  God was so generous, gracious, and forgiving towards me. I knew I was experiencing His mercy in a new way.

Today, I feel new freedom, new power and new blessings, new favor, new compassion and new forgiveness. I have experienced God’s MERCY and now I know it! I Am Full Of Mercy!

God says of Himself in Exodus 22:27 …for I am merciful.

Mercy is God’s nature – it is who He is.

A loving God full of mercy and ready to forgive us, ready to favor us and to treat us with great compassion. God is overcome with unfailing love for us and He pities us. God wants to show you His kindness and bless you. He desires to be gracious to you, generous to you and help you. He wants to fill you full of mercy!

Ephesians 2:4-5 says, God’s mercy is so abundant…

Maybe you have been hurt by someone?

Maybe you made the mistake and allowed yourself to become bitter and now you are working through the pain.

Jesus wants to heal your hurts and pains but He always starts with us… forgiving others…showing mercy.  With God it is easy to get set free from the pain and guilt, just start with a prayer and tell God you forgive that person who offended you. We invite you to pray this prayer with us.

Prayer for Mercy:
Dear Jesus, thank you for forgiving me and showing me mercy. Because you have forgiven me for so many mistakes I have made, I now forgive the person who has made a mistake and hurt me. Please forgive me for being bitter and help me to show mercy. I break off negative thoughts, condemnation and guilt for anything I have said or I have done. I will move forward and receive Your blessings, steadfast love, kindness, pity and favor in every part of my life. God, I ask that I would literally feel Your MERCY surging through my body, mind, and emotions and by Your MERCY, I would be healed, restored, and renewed. Amen.

From this day on, be known as a woman full of forgiveness and mercy.

Memorize & Meditate:
Matthew 5:7 God blesses those who are merciful, for they will be shown mercy.

We would love to hear from you and what you are learning.

How To Fight Negative Thoughts

Most days I have to fight negative thoughts. It is like a war playing out in my mind.

I tell myself that I can win this war!
I can stay positive.
I will believe God’s promises to me.

Many of us go through life with a negative message playing in our minds. The negative message goes something like this, “You will never make it, look how successful others are in comparison to you. Why don’t you give up and stop trying? God doesn’t care about making you successful or He would have already done it.

I constantly fight these negative messages recorded in my mind.

The key to stopping negative thoughts is to dislodge them by replacing them with positive thoughts.

A verse in Matthew 5 really encourages me in the fight downgrading negative thoughts and replacing them with uplifting positive thoughts.

Matthew 5:6
Blessed are those who hunger and thirst for God’s approval. They will be satisfied.

I like to paraphrase Matthew 5:6 with, “I am the most happy and carefree when I am craving God because He satisfies me with approval and acceptance.”

One of our greatest emotional needs is for approval. We can not truly love ourselves and be healthy without approval and acceptance of someone. We go to great lengths to get love and approval from people but they always fail us because they are unable to give us unconditional approval.

Only God can give you unconditional love and approval.

And He has given it to you. He loves and approves of you unconditionally. When we are confident that we have God’s approval – our minds are powerful! We receive His blessings, happiness, affirmation, security, acceptance, and certainty.

Here are three ways to receive His unconditional approval.

One: You must constantly tell yourself positives from the Bible.  (The Bible is God talking to you). Repeat the scriptures you have over and over until it has you.

Here is what I declare constantly:

I have God’s approval.
I am acceptance and appreciated by Christ who lives in me.
I am loved and highly valued.
I have Jesus’s backing and favor.
God admires and esteems me.
I am respected and praised.
God approves of me.
I am stamped with His approval.
I believe in myself.
I go through my day with power and confidence.

Two: Practice visualization, this will take you into a new realm of the Spirit. Take a few minutes to close your eyes and hear God speaking words of approval to you.

He is saying “…good job, daughter, I am so proud of you.

As I was practicing this…The Holy Spirit said to me: “I was proud of you when I watched what you did for your mother it was a great sacrifice. I was proud you when you forgave that person who hurt you and then you showed them kindness. And yesterday, I saw you overlooked your husband’s hurtful words and deeply love him anyways”.

God is saying to us.. “Great Job”!

Three: Never again build a case against yourself.

Many us have a hard time not liking ourselves and that’s why we need to practice replacing negative thoughts with positive thinking.

You think 30,000 thoughts a day -make them all positive!

Remember Matthew 5:6, “I am the most happy and carefree when I am craving God because He fills me with approval and acceptance.”

When Dealing With Difficult People: Be Meek

Matt 5:5
Blessed are the meek, for they will inherit the earth.

The word meek in this verse is defined as a gentle person.

A meek person is untroubled and not easily angered. Their response to difficult people is gentleness.A meek person is strong; when they suffer injury, rejection and persecution they don’t respond with retribution, bitterness and resentment.

A meek person takes on a Jesus-like demeanor when they suffer hurtful words. They find strength in God to not receive negativity and to replace it with a positive thought.

Meek women understand that hurt, fearful, and insecure people say negative hurtful words.

Joyce Meyer says… “Hurt people—hurt people.”

A meek woman has learned to forgive and see things from the other person’s perspective.

A meek person says to themselves, “What terrible pain this negative person must be feeling. I understand that is why this person so hurtful to others.”

A few years ago on my 30th wedding anniversary, my husband wanted to buy me a bracelet. While we were in the store, the lady waiting on us made some unkind faces and remarks toward us. Both my husband and I were shocked, but instead of judging her…we asked her if she was okay. To our surprise she told us that her dad died the night before, and the owner wouldn’t give her the day off. After that, we were able to realize that she was rude to us because she was in pain. We felt compassion and prayed for her.

From then on, we decided that anytime we run into a negative salesperson, waiter, neighbor, or family member – we ask them sincerely, “Are you okay?” Most times they are not! We show them sympathy and pray for them. Most times we leave with them thanking us and saying they feel better.

A meek person puts others ahead of themselves.

They think of how others are feeling more then how they feel. They don’t dwell on how unfairly they are being treated. They understand that hurting people hurt other people.

I often think when I am ignored or put down by a family member that I will not give them my happiness. I sing this song…”I don’t like it, that’s okay, I can be happy anyways”.
No one controls how I feel but me! When they say hurtful, angry, and controlling remarks, I say three things to myself:

One: The hurtful remarks you are saying to me are not true.

Two: I can see why you are lashing out at me. Because you are a hurt, insecure and unforgiving person.

Three: You will not steal my joy.

A meek woman is not a weak woman.

She is a strong woman who demonstrates self-control.

Only 3 people in the Bible are directly described as being meek: Jesus, Paul and Moses.

Paul says in 2 Cor. 10:1, I am meek but strong.
Numbers 12:3 says, Moses was more meek than any man on earth.
Jesus says about Himself in Matthew 11:29, learn of me for I am meek…

Each of these men are among the most severely persecuted in the Bible, and they didn’t retaliate when they were treated unfairly, knowing God was in control.

This is one of the Bible dictionaries definitions of a meek person: They live out submission to the divine will, without murmuring. Their temperament is softness, mildness and gentleness; they show forbearance under injuries and provocations.

Next time you encounter a difficult person apply meekness, be gentle with them.

Matthew 5:5
Blessed (happy) are the meek (gentle).

When You’re in a Difficult Situation: Cry Out to God

Matthew 5:4

Blessed are they that mourn (cry out to God in prayer) for they shall be comforted. (They will receive a miracle).

The Bible teaches us to cry out to God.

Crying to God for transformation, miracles and a change. When you’re facing difficulties, cry to God for help. God promises to hear you and answer you.

God hears the cry of His people.

I remember when my boys were young, every few minutes they were crying out for me to help them. Most days went like this… “He hit me…I can’t find my my shoes.” and “I am hungry, he took my toy and I am thirsty.”

This was my dream family and I loved to care for them. But sometimes I wasn’t speedy at answering their cry.

One Saturday morning I was washing the breakfast dishes and I could hear the boys calling me from the backyard. They had made a couple dirt mounts and were riding their bikes over these little hills. They kept asking me to come and watch them and of course I said in a minute when I finished the dishes.

I could hear them in the distance laughing, and all of sudden one of them yelled out with a cry, “Mommy, help!”

When I heard that cry I almost broke down the back door trying to get to him. I knew that cry meant something was really wrong. Outside, I found one my sons had crashed his bike and he was laying on the ground with the bike on top of him.

Thankfully he only had a scratch & bloody knee.

I carried him into the house, and comforted him with bandages, prayer, kisses, hugs and popsicles.

All was good again.

This is how God is with us when He hears our cry for help. God will break down the door to get to you and answer your prayer. God loves you and is wanting to give you supernatural miracles, because you are His child.

He promised to answer you when you cry to Him.

Memorize this verse, pray it and quote it.

Matthew 5:4 Blessed (happy) are those who mourn (cry out to God for help) they will be comforted. (God will answer them).

There is a story in the Bible about a woman named Hannah who was deeply unhappy because she was unable to get pregnant. She was ridiculed for inability to have a child. Hannah attended church, shared her need, and continued to pray and cry out to God for a child. God of course, answered her prayers and she had a son. She named the baby Samuel, and he became a famous pastor.

Hannah’s story is the example that God plans for us to follow. He wants us to be like Hannah- go to church, ask for prayer, keep praying and crying out to Him until we receive our miracle.

There are many scriptures about crying out to God for miracles. Here are a few:

Ps. 34:8 This poor man cried, and the LORD heard him And saved him out of all his troubles.

Lam. 2:18 Their heart cried out to the Lord, …Let your tears run down like a river day and night; Give yourself no relief, Let your eyes have no rest.

Isa. 62:7 Give the LORD no rest until he completes his work…

Are you crying out to God? Let us pray with you.

Love you,

The Secret of Happiness!

Jesus gives us the secret to happiness in Matthew 5:3.
The secret of happiness will help you overcome discouragement and feel joy.

Matthew 5:3 says…”Blessed are the poor in spirit”.
I am sure you are asking…”What does that mean”?

Let’s break down this scripture and discover the hidden secret of feeling happy.
The word “blessed” means to be happy. “Poor in spirit” means to be humble, a person who is thankful.

Matthew 5:3 can be paraphrased… “The person who is thankful and appreciative is always happy and never depressed.”

This is your secret to staying happy: Be thankful.

When you feel discouraged with a person -humble yourself and think of why you can be thankful for them. Your depression can be dispelled through thankfulness.

Yesterday I was feeling anxiety and depression and I asked the Holy Spirit to help me retrace my steps; and remember the incident that caused me to feel discouraged. Suddenly I remembered a disagreement with my husband that left me feeling hurt. I decided, I would change that thought and instead of being angry at him…I would think of things I could appreciate about him. The depression and anxiety left and I felt happy again.

Trust Jesus, His way works!

You can be a happy person if you think and say words of gratefulness towards the person causing you sadness.

You choose the kind of person you want to be…a happy person —-who is humble and grateful for others or an unhappy person who is not thankful but filled with – – – pride.

Instead of thinking how sad you feel. Think about what you can be thankful for.
Instead of feeling rejected by someone who has walked out of your life, instead think how much you appreciated having that person in your life for a brief time.
Instead of thinking this is a boring dumb depressing job, think I appreciate this job it is teaching me to be faithful when things are boring.

Thankfulness will bring you out of depression.
Expressing appreciation and a thankful attitude will keep you happy all day long.
Choose to be blessed, happy and fortunate!

Scripture to memorize: Matthew 5:3 says…Blessed are the poor in spirit…(Happy are the humble, appreciative & thankful).

Make this your new way to live in “2019”. Live Happy! 😃

Prayer: Lord help me to be thankful for everything you have given me. I realize my depression can come from ungratefulness. I want to be thankful and recognize everything I have comes from God. Help me to stop judging my husband, my friends and coworkers and start appreciating them. Forgive me for pride and wanting everything my way. I humble myself and think thoughts of appreciation and thankfulness towards others. Thank you Jesus for the revelation that my happiness comes from me appreciating others.

Declare with me: Happy people are thankful people. Unhappy people are unthankful people. Jesus encourages me to humble myself and be thankful for the people around me. I know how to live happy by being thankful.

Always,
Tami McKinney

Jesus is the Healer

I am the Lord who heals you.
Exodus 15:26

Jesus has the power to heal your body and Jesus wants to heal you.

If you need healing…say with me, “Jesus has the power to heal me and I believe Jesus wants to heal me.”

So, now, if you’re asking yourself, “If Jesus has the power to heal me and if Jesus wants to heal me…how can I receive God’s healing?”… Receiving Jesus healing is very simple:

Believe Jesus can and will heal your body.

  • Ps 103:3 –  (Jesus) Who heals all your diseases…
  • Ex 23:25 – And (Jesus) I will take sickness away from the midst of you.
  • Isa 58:8  – Your light shall break forth like the morning, your healing shall spring forth speedily…
  • Ps 118:17 – I shall not die, but live, and declare the works of the Lord.
  • Ex 15:26 – I am the Lord who heals you.

Find and memorize scriptures on healing.

Build up your faith and believe Jesus to heal your body.

Here are some scriptures to start your healing journey:

  • Matt 4: 23 – And He went throughout all Galilee, teaching in their synagogues and preaching the good news (gospel) of the kingdom, and healing every kind of disease and every kind of sickness among the people [demonstrating and revealing that He was indeed the promised Messiah].
  • Ps 107:20 – He sent His word and healed them, and delivered them from their destruction.

Pray for healing daily.

It is like taking a prescription your doctor gives you for a sickness. You must take the entire prescript amount to conquer the sickness.

To receive healing we must continue to pray and speak the scriptures until we are healed. Keep speaking God’s word daily over your body like a prescription. Keep praying and keep saying God’s word until healing comes. Don’t stop, don’t give up and don’t get discouraged; healing will come!

Ask your friends in your Friend Group Bible Study to pray in agreement with you for your healing.

  • Mk 16:17 – These signs will follow those who believe: In My name …they will lay hands on the sick, and they will recover.
  • Jas 5:15 – …the prayer of faith will save the sick…
  • Jas 5:16 – …and pray for one another, that you may be healed
  • Matt. 4:24 – So the news about Him spread throughout all Syria; and they brought to Him all who were sick, those suffering with various diseases and pains, those under the power of demons, and epileptics, paralytics; and He healed them. (All)

‭We want to pray for you to be healed!

Let us know how we can pray for you…or let us help you find a promise in the Bible you can hold onto for your healing!

Remember…
Jesus is the healer. And we know Him!
Jesus wants to heal you. And we have His promises ‬‬guaranteeing our healing!

Believing for a Miracle?

Luke 2:37
Nothing is impossible with God

Most people believe God performs miracles.
But do you believe God will perform a miracle for you?
The Bible says a lot about miracles
Here is what I have learned about remembering, listening, and believing for miracles.

REMEMBER A MIRACLE

2 Chron 16:12
Remember the miracles he performed, the amazing things he did.

God tells us and wants us to remember the miracles He has done for us. This causes us to feel grateful, happy, and it increases our faith to ask for another miracle.

Grab a cup of coffee, your favorite Bible, and sit down with the Holy Spirit. Ask Him to remind you of the past miracles God has done for you. Write them down and spend time telling God how thankful you are for giving you a miracle.

Eph 3:20
Now to him who is able to do exceedingly abundantly above all that we ask or think.

LISTEN TO GOD TALK TO YOU ABOUT THE MIRACLE HE HAS ARRANGED FOR YOU

Neh 9:17
They refused to listen and failed to remember the miracles you performed among them.

Luke 1:37
For no word from God will ever fail.

The best way to hear God speak to you…is to get alone, pray, and read the Bible until something speaks to your spirit. God talks to us by His Spirit speaking to our spirit through His Word. Spend some time listening to Jesus and hear what He is saying about your miracle.

BELIEVE THAT GOD CAN DO MIRACLES

Mark 9:23
Everything is possible for one who believes.

Matt 13:58
And He did not do many miracles there because of their unbelief.

God is still honoring His promise to do miracles.
It is our job to believe for the miracle.
It is God’s job to perform the miracle.

Ps 77: 14
You are the God who performs miracles; you display your power among the peoples.

WAITING FOR A MIRACLE

Job 5:8-9
But if I were you, I would appeal to God; I would lay my cause before him.He performs wonders that cannot be fathomed, miracles that cannot be counted

Habakkuk 2:2.
“It will come. Wait for it.”

Every miracle has a waiting period.
Waiting for God to perform the miracle is the hardest part.
Most of us give up during the waiting period.

FOUR WAYS TO ENCOURAGE YOURSELF TO WAIT FOR A MIRACLE

#1: Never Give Up. Keep Waiting for the Miracle. Keep Expecting the Miracle. Tell Yourself, “I Will NOT Give Up”!

Hab 2:3
At the time I have decided, my words will come true. You can trust what I say about the future. It may take a long time, but keep on waiting–it will happen

#2: PRAY and THANK God for the Miracle daily. Pray. Pray!

1 Thess 2:17-18
Never stop praying. Be thankful in all circumstances, for this is God’s will for you…

#3: Read your Bible to strengthen your faith. Faith comes from hearing the Word.

Rom 10:17
Consequently, faith comes from hearing the message, and the message is heard through the word about Christ.

# 4: Share the miracle you are believing God to perform in your life with your Friend Group. Ask them to pray with you for a miracle.

Ecc 4:9-10
You are better having a friend than to be all alone, because then you will get more enjoyment out of what you earn. If you fall, your friend can help you up. But if you fall without having a friend nearby, you are really in trouble.

Believe God to give you a miracle.
YES! You are close to a Miracle!

Love you,
Pastor Tami

The Purpose Pyramid is built on daily prayer, the devotion to the Word, going to church, serving and giving back, having friendships, and spreading the Good News. This is just how Jesus lived his life. He is our best example. Let’s do what Jesus did….

Let’s look at the life of Jesus. Famously, Jesus lived on earth for 33 years and it was only the last 3-1/2 years that He fulfilled His purpose.
